TURKEY HUNTING ACTIVITIES FOR KIDS AND GREAT TURKEY HUNTING INFORMATION FROM TURKEY EXPERT ‘WALKIN’ EAGLE’ DICK ALFORD

Dick Alford has over 30 turkey hunting seasons in the bag including experiences across North America, Hawaii and New Zealand. He has over 200 gobblers to his name including several record book toms and four coveted Grand Slams.

A former teacher and dean of students, Alford uses his comfort in front of groups and experience introducing kids to the outdoors to enlighten turkey hunters on the best ways to chase this wily bird. At his booth this year he will have several fun activities for kids to get them into the sport of turkey hunting. Kids will get to use a box call, put on a facemask, learn gun safety and then “shoot” a turkey with a laser gun. Afterwards, each child will be given a real turkey feather for their hardwork.

His daily seminar covers a wide variety of topics aimed at the rookie turkey hunter as well as the seasoned veteran. Topics include decoy placement, calls and how to position yourself to see the maximum number of birds.
Alford has six books on turkey hunting to his name the most recent being, From Shot to Pot. Alford has been a featured speaker at numerous turkey hunting seminars, clinics and banquets. He has also been featured on radio and television including Ron Schara’s Minnesota Bound. When anyone talks with Alford, whether they be experienced or a non-veteran to the sport, it’s Alford’s intent to listen, inform, entertain and inspire.
