Tom Poorker

They might not be brothers,
but Tom Poorker and Doug Schoenborn
are like the Car Talk guys
of the gun dog world.
With almost 50 years of experience between them,|
these two can answer pretty much
every question thrown at them.
In fact, they like the challenge of answering
questions so much; they’ve made
their Game Fair seminar a total Q&A format.
“Focus on Gundogs” is the title of their
seminar covering retrievers,
spaniels and pointing breeds.
Taking place daily, the seminar pertains
to everybody because it’s based on
questions from the audience.

Tom Poorker has been a
professional trainer for over 25 years
and upland and waterfowl guide
for two decades.
Tom, along with his wife Stacey,
is the owner of Midwest Gundog Kennels
in Foreston, MN. Toms' specialty is
pointing breeds used for gundogs and
retrieving and flushing breeds used
for gundogs. He has also been involved in
AKC Hunt Tests where he is also a
certified judge for pointing breeds.

He has also had success at every
level of the hunt test game, having
Master, Senior and Junior titled
dogs to his credit. Tom has given
many seminars across the country with
a realistic problem-solving viewpoint
on the training of gundogs. To help
folks learn more about dogs,
Tom has written outdoor articles
about hunting and the training
of gundogs for weekly outdoor
newspapers in the upper Midwest.

Aside from his writings, Tom is also
an experienced radio personality and is
the founder of the outdoor television show,
"Focus Outdoors". In Tom Poorker, you get a
professional that is well spoken and
progressive in his attitude about the
future of hunting, gundogs and
the family involvement in the outdoors.
